Azimuth — Duolingo for the direction of your life

Role Founder & CEO Status Private beta · Founding 25 cohort Stack Expo / React Native, Supabase, Claude

What it is

Azimuth is a mobile app I'm building that helps people build a compelling, specific vision of their future self, then makes that vision actionable through short daily exercises and check-ins. The closest comparison is Duolingo, but for the direction of your life instead of a language.

I own the product end-to-end: positioning, UX, curriculum design, and a large share of the actual build, using AI-assisted development workflows to ship and iterate at a pace a solo non-technical founder normally couldn't.

Try it

A live, click-through replica of the backbone of the app: Vision Building, Northstar, Daily, Nudge Bank, and Partner. It's built to actually respond when you tap. Nothing here calls the real app or saves after you leave.

Vision Building

The curriculum itself — Foundation, then eight Domain Visions, then Integration and Goal Architecture. Every level you complete here feeds two other screens: it builds your Northstar, and it seeds your Nudge Bank. Tap Enter Level to see one complete and the next unlock.

Demo state, not the real app —

Why it exists

Most people trying to figure out their life end up in one of two places: passively consuming content about it — podcasts, threads, books that never manifest into action — or posting the version of "working on myself" performatively, rather than doing the system that underlies progress.

Azimuth exists to give that work a structure, the same way Duolingo made a language a five-minute habit instead of a chore. I built it first for people who are already building these habits — athletes, founders, people working toward specific goals. I want to take the structures these high-performers rely on and spread them to everyone else.

What it does

Seven pieces feed into one daily loop. Nothing is a standalone feature. What you write is contextualized and gets reflected back when you most need it.

Vision Building

A branching curriculum — Foundation, then eight Domain Visions (career, health, relationships, and more), then Integration and Goal Architecture — rendered as a tree you climb one level at a time, not a syllabus you dread.

Your Northstar

The synthesized output of Vision Building, not another screen you fill out. A Foundation Snapshot appears as soon as Foundation is complete; a full Vision Statement follows once you've built out at least two Domain Visions.

The daily check-in

Energy, intention, and a nudge pulled from your own past answers. The whole ritual takes under two minutes and sidesteps the blank-page problem of journaling.

The nudge engine

Anything you write that matters gets tagged and can be saved to your Nudge Bank — sorted as "redirecting" or "motivating" — then resurfaced later: morning, midday, evening, or exactly when you open the app on a low-energy day.

Momentum & streaks

A momentum score and a color-coded activity calendar replace vague stats screens — including "resilience days," when you showed up anyway on a hard one.

Reflection cards

After each written exercise, a one-line reflection generated from your own words, summarizes what you worked through, and is a memorable touchstone to return to in moments of reflection.

Accountability pairs

Optional partner matching so someone else can see whether you kept your word that week — the partner screen shows their progress and quick ways to reach them once you're connected. Momentum is easier to sustain when it isn't private.

Design philosophy

Five rules I try not to break, from the curriculum spec down to the shade of the shadows:

  • Tap over type — default to ranking, selecting, and swiping; free text is reserved for moments where your own words become worth handing back to you later.
  • Short bursts — every exercise runs 30 seconds to 2 minutes, so depth comes from returning daily, not from long sessions you have to schedule around.
  • A guide, not a game — Duolingo's structure and momentum, inside a dark, premium palette.
  • Your outputs are the product — every exercise produces a structured record that later feeds the nudge engine, not a diary entry that disappears.
  • Nothing is final — you can re-do any exercise; new answers version instead of overwriting old ones.
It should feel like a trusted guide in the dark — not a game, not a dashboard.

Where it stands

Azimuth is currently in private beta, shipping to new users through a small, selective "Founding 25" cohort who get the app first and shape what it becomes.
